What teachers can do
Teachers can post announcements to a class, create study groups - a smaller group within a class - for focused discussion, and send a direct message to an individual student.
What students can do
Students can read announcements and study group discussions, and reply to any direct message their teacher sends them.
Filtering by class
If you belong to more than one class, use the class filter to focus Community on a single class at a time, or view everything at once.
Who has access
Community is available to school-managed accounts, since it's built around your class. Individual (home) accounts aren't associated with a class, so Community isn't available for these users.
