How does ATAR Goals work?

ATAR Goals tracks your progress towards a target ATAR, subject by subject, using a mix of your real school marks and your performance on ReviseOnline.

Setting your target ATAR and subjects

Select Edit Goal to open Set ATAR Goal, where you choose between 4 and 7 subjects and set a target score for each one. Your predicted ATAR is calculated from your best 4 subject targets, plus any LOTE, Mathematics Methods and/or Mathematics Specialist bonus marks you qualify for.

Reading your Subject Breakdown

For each subject, Subject Breakdown shows your Target, your School average, your Platform average, the Gap between your school average and your target, a Trend, and when it was last updated.

Entering your school average

Your Platform average is calculated automatically from your performance on ReviseOnline - you don't need to enter anything for this. Your School average is different: you enter it yourself using Update School Mark, typically after you get a real assessment result back at school. You can also add an optional note (like "Mid-term exam, Term 2 report") to remember what a mark was for, and you'll see your current Platform average for that subject alongside it for comparison.

How your Gap and Trajectory update

Your Gap for each subject compares your school average to your target for that subject. Your overall Current Trajectory only appears once you've entered at least one school average - until then it shows as blank, prompting you to enter your marks. Trend updates as you log new school averages over time, so it builds a picture of how you're tracking as results come in.

Closing your gaps

Close Your Gaps highlights the subjects furthest below target, ranked by the size of the gap, with quick links to Find Resources or Practise Now for that subject.

Editing your goal later

You can edit your goal at any stage - changing your target score for a subject, or adding and removing subjects - and your predicted ATAR recalculates accordingly.
